Award winning artist Clive Douglas devotes his time to building up his art work practice from his studio in Dromana, Victoria.
A former member of the Victorian Artists Society, where in 1988/89 he studied oil painting under Max Wilks. These lessons allowed him to change from watercolours to oils, which continue to this time.
He has been exhibiting his works of art through Galleries since the 1980s and has participated in over 30 solo and group exhibitions from this time. His works are held in many private art collections in Australia and Overseas.
“This exhibition of new paintings of Lon Retreat and surroundings are my expression of this unique area: an oasis almost surrounded by seaside villages, the ruggedness and glare of sand dunes and scrub along the coast, the quiet and stillness of summer pastures. Standing still you see the soft swaying of tall grasses brushed by gentle breezes, and the feeling of an untouched haven surrounded by activity. I have felt this as I wandered around looking and seeking inspiration for this artistic challenge. I believe I found all of this and hope you also see what inspired me in these works.”
Drinks & Snacks available for purchase on the evening, with all drinks proceeds donated to our artist’s charity of choice, Medicins Sans Frontieres - Doctors Without Borders.
Exhibition is open daily from Friday 26th July and closes Sunday 15th September.
